Dr. Loay Okko

In 1982 I started my work in the field of pregnancy ultrasonic diagnostics. My preferential interest was in prenatal diagnostics. In 1983 I became a member of DEGUM (German Association of Ultrasonic Diagnostics in Medicine).
In 1984 I was doctor in charge of prenatal diagnostics at the Perinatal Centre in Paderborn and established the method of chorionic villus sampling. Since 1990 the prenatal diagnostics have been licensed by health insurance i.e. I am running a specialized Centre as a part of the hospital.
Since 1993 I have been the director of the sonography training centre of Waldbröl. Here, several doctors from all over Germany are trained in the field of prenatal diagnostics.

Publications
I am the author of the scientific series „Ultraschalldiagnostik in der Schwangerschaft“ and co-author of „Dopplersonographische Diagnostik“ (German Doctor’s News).
Furthermore several ultrasonic enterprises use our images for the development of presentation boards. These are used for demonstration purposes in some gynaecological practices.
